Surveillance Secure completed a project for Herrington Harbour North in Deale, Maryland. For this project we established several wireless access points, tied Acti IP cameras into the wireless network and fed all of the information back to the server in the marina office. Our objective for this project was to cover the only road into and out of the marina to record anyone who did not belong on the property. Each boat on the over 30 acre lot was valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars so these targets needed protection. We designed a plan and met with the marina owners to guarantee that we were meeting their needs.
We installed 6 Acti model 1231 IP cameras on top of the on-site light poles as well as 2 license plate recognition cameras at the entrance/exit. All of these cameras combined onto one system provides with full coverage as well as room on the network for future expansion. Another objective that was important on this project was that the footage needed to be stored for months as boats sit for long periods of time and people are often unaware that an incident/theft has taken place on their boat until it is time to return it into the water. To meet this need, we are providing them with the equipment and training to back up all of their footage on a monthly basis and to archive the footage.
As someone enters the property, their license plate is captured and as they move through the marina, we can follow them from the entrance all the way to the marina office. If they turn down a boat aisle, our client can see exactly which aisle it was. If there is an incident, our client can re-track the activity in the area to see who has been there and at what time. Using this evidence, the person can be identified which can be given to the police as evidence.
