Client Case Study: Assisted Living and Senior Housing Facility

Surveillance Secure worked with an assisted living and senior housing facility to design access control and surveillance systems to provide the utmost safety and security for people who need it most.

Control External Personnel Access to the Building

For this particular client, we installed an access control system via doorbells for loading docks. Personnel attempting to enter the building can notify the front desk of their arrival and request access to the building. This way, front desk staff are able to speak to people through the doorbell system and can either grant or deny access simply by pushing a button.

If request is granted during the evening hours, a security guard is notified through their iPhone so that residents are not disturbed by the ringing of a doorbell during after hours.

Protect Clients

Protecting the building is essential, but protecting clients is even more important. Surveillance systems protect the clients from theft from visitors stealing from patients in addition to other patients taking property that doesn’t belong to them without permission.

Surveillance cameras enhance client protection by monitoring the safety and whereabouts of patients as well as keeping residents with various medical conditions, including Alzheimer’s, safe. In order to enhance security, we also incorporated door access for patients with wristbands through Stanley Healthcare Wander Management Systems.

If a wristband wasn’t feasible for some patients, Apple watches or iPhones could also grant access. The front desk is notified if a patient attempts to enter or exit the building. This way, the front desk and nursing station is always aware of the location of patients as well as their activity throughout the day.

Enhance Management Systems

As a result of being able to monitor client activity better with access control and surveillance systems, management effectiveness is also increased. Since the management now receives activity reports of the patients, they are better able to identify areas for improvement as well as recognize areas of concern among the residents and work to improve daily living activities and safety of the residents.

These new systems for the residents can be integrated with doors and elevators within the facility as well in order to create a fully secure environment in which patients are protected at all times and only have access to permitted floors and rooms.
